Dear Addison - Thank you for making me a mom. God knew exactly what he was doing when he made me your momma. I smile more, slow down more, and cherish more since the day you came into this world. Your laugh is literally the best sound on the planet, and while being a toddler you have shown us that we need to up our game...you make the process of picking up your poop off the floor quite funny. I hope you always know how loved you are, and no matter what life has in store for you...as your mom I will be right by your side. Always.
Dear Mom - I understand so much more now being a mom. I look at you and see all the hardships you survived. The moments where you stayed up at night wondering if you were doing a good job or made the right choice. Thank you for all you did that I realized and all the things I don't. Thank you for allowing me to fall in love with a boy when I was 16 (we will never tell Addison that ha). Thank you, for giving all that you could at every stage of life for me to turn into the person I am so proud of today. Thank you for flying out here for our first weeks at home with Addison and for taking the night shift with her. Thank you for letting me move away from Buffalo and allowing me to find myself...I now know how hard it is to be away from your kids.
Dear Norm (my MIL) - Thank you for welcoming this 16-year-old loud New Yorker into your family. Thank you for raising a son, I am so proud to call my husband and father of my daughter. He is going to show her exactly how a man should treat her and I know that's because of you. Thank you for being a sounding board for all my questions, jumping in to supporting us in every way possible, and for the baby boutique of clothes, I have in her closet HA! .Thank you for your kindness, your grace, and your love. I absolutely won the mother-in-law jackpot with you Norma.
Dear mamas - oh my gosh, mamas, you deserve to be praised every single day. If quarantine has taught me anything it's that moms work way harder than anyone, and deserve to be celebrated every day. Mamas - you are strong, you are resilient, you are a goddess, the lover of your family, and the backbone of your family. Being a mom is hard work because it's work we all want to do so desperately well but we truly have on idea how good or bad we are doing until they have become grown adults! It's a job that never ends because even when the kids go to sleep, you're planning for more, all while continuing to worry about their safety. It's a never-ending job, but it's the very best job. I hope today your family celebrates you extra and you feel all the love.
Dear Mommas wanting to be mommas - I want you to know I'm praying for you and for all your future babies. Just because you don't have a baby currently in your hands, doesn't mean you aren't a mama yet. I takes a village to raise children and know that Addison has MULTIPLE Aunties that are going to help me shape her into this amazing person. For those of you desperately wanting a child of your own know that God has this amazing plan for you and for your family. While it may be hard to see His plan or the way it's going to work in your life, I pray you feel peace today.
Dear Mommas with Mommas in Heaven - I cannot imagine the pain you feel not having your mom in your life. Today, I'm sending you all my love and my hugs. I'm praying you feel your mom today and know she's watching over you, as all moms do. Your mom loves you, too. Momma....you are doing an amazing job!!! You are strong!! You CAN do this thing called mother hood!
Happy Mother's Day, friends!
xxx Sarah
